Last weekend I went back to Taiping for Canmy’s birthday cum gathering.
Incidentally, the ex-mmuCfers had a gathering in Marche Movenpick Marcher, One Utama last Saturday. I wanted to attend that gathering as much as i want to go back to Taiping.
I guess we can’t have both best things at once.. Thus, I need to forgo either one. As I’ve promised Canmy to go back, I decided to skip my first ex-mmuCfers gathering.
Most of us rushed back to Taiping from KL, while Limei traveled for 10 long hour’s journey from Singapore to Taiping on Saturday. I was astonished when I heard that she’s coming back (even though she was advised not to by her parents), she needs to return to Singapore the next morning.
Yanhui, too has an early class on Sunday, hence she needs to go back to KL the next morning. The willingness of everyone to travel from different places just for this gathering showed how much we treasure this friendship. It is true that we have not met for ages, some as long as five years. We hardly see each other after f5. Most of us go on different path, yet we’re still close at heart.
This reunion, despite of not seeing each other in ages, we chatted away happily like yesteryears. The topic had indeed changed, from study to work to relationship then to marriage. And it was really a girl talk.
We slept over in Canmy’s house, chatted until 5am. And woke up early morning the following day for breakfast at our famous Kakak restaurant for ‘kuey teow thi’ng’
After breakfast we sent Limei and Yanhui off to the bus station.
Even though our path may never cross again, I’m glad that we take the effort to keep in touch and update each others on our lives.
Indeed, friends are like wines, they get better with age.
